Hive Learning, the world’s leading peer learning platform, and Babcock’s Defence Systems Technology (DST) business have won the bronze award for the ‘Learning Platform of the Year’ at The Learning and Performance Institute’s Learning Awards 2021.

The ‘Learning Platform of the Year’ category recognizes the important difference that the right platform can make to an organization’s people and their performance.

Babcock DST recognized that its team needed fast access to resources and one another’s experiences to rapidly respond to the COVID-19 crisis. In partnership with Hive Learning, they created a social and collaborative learning experience that was launched in under two weeks, giving employees the tools to thrive through the crisis and beyond — helping build resilience, wellbeing, and agility.

Judges look for evidence of a platform’s alignment to a clear organizational need, stakeholder buy-in, learner engagement and adoption, and most importantly, the impact on performance and what the platform has helped the organization to achieve.

Babcock DST People Director, Beth-Marie Norbury, says:

“It’s been a real collaborative effort to get to this point in such a short space of time. The Hive Learning platform has not only enabled us to communicate effectively with a remote workforce during the pandemic, but it has also given us the opportunity to focus our efforts on meaningful content whilst creating an environment to learn, discuss and share. We are absolutely delighted to have been recognized with this award.”

Hive Learning CEO Julia Tierney comments:

“I’m so proud of the Babcock DST team and Hive learning for winning the bronze award. At the time of the entry submission, our journey with them was just three months young. To have been recognized for such a prestigious award in such a short space of time is truly reflective of the brilliant and innovative work the Babcock team are doing.

“Babcock have really taken a forward-thinking approach to helping their people thrive, helping them build long-lasting but often difficult to master behavioral skills. We just love that we were able to play a part in their journey.

“We want to also congratulate all the finalists in our award category, Accipio, AlixPartners, CGI, D2L & Dematic, Kallidus & David Lloyd, NatWest Group, and Netex Learning.”
