London / New York, 8 February 2019: Halma plc, a global group of life-saving technology companies, and digital partner, Hive Learning, have won the Silver Award for ‘External Learning Solution of the Year’ at the prestigious 2019 Learning Awards.

According to the Learning & Performance Institute, “The External Learning Solution of the Year Award is presented to a learning provider that has undertaken a major learning and development project for a client that is innovative in concept, and has produced demonstrable performance improvement and business impact for the client as well as evidence of value for money”.

The partners won the award for their collaboration in building the HalmaHub – Halma’s mobile-first collaborative learning experience, which Halma Group CEO Andrew Williams described as “successfully accelerating the pace of change across the group” at Halma’s Final Results presentation in 2018.

HalmaHub was launched at the end of 2017 as part of the global group’s emerging growth strategy to amplify the ambition and impact of its companies by creating a culture of shared learning and collaboration across Halma’s more than 40 diverse and geographically dispersed companies.

HalmaHub is one of seven core growth enablers that contributed to record profit and growth in 2018. Over 3,000 Halma employees across 19 countries regularly access HalmaHub to share knowledge, skills and ideas every day.

The successful partnership was also recognised in November when Halma and Hive Learning won the ‘Best use of social and collaborative technology’ at the 2018 Learning Technologies Awards.

Jennifer Ward, Group Talent and Communications Director at Halma, said:

“As a portfolio of entrepreneurial companies tackling some of the key problems facing the world today, we recognised that we had significant opportunities to accelerate growth by learning from one another, collaborating, solving problems and innovating. We couldn’t do this without the HalmaHub, and our partner Hive Learning.”

Hive Learning CEO Angus McCarey said of the award:

“Halma’s vision for HalmaHub inspires us every day at Hive Learning. Their open and agile culture means that they are always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible – both in the products they create and in their approach to creating a truly high-performance workforce.

“I’m proud that Hive Learning has been able to support Halma on their journey to grow a safer, cleaner, healthier future for everyone, every day. HalmaHub has led to the creation of entirely new business models, product collaborations, and accelerated the pace of change across the group. It is a brilliant example of how technology can embed and enable a culture of learning and collaboration at scale.

“Halma are a joy to partner with and I can’t wait to see what’s next for them.”

Hive Learning helps people adopt the behaviours critical for growth by combining a mobile-first group learning platform with action-orientated content programmes, and agile learning activation services.
